Gaza Day 30

$1,500.00

Ink on Paper 22” x 30”

On Day 30 of the Israeli attacks in Gaza the Palestinian Health Organization reported 10,022 civilians were killed. 4,104 of whom were children. Gaza is a grave yard for children. Civilians (elderly, women and children) are targeted. Children are writing their names on their hands to be identified when they are found limbs scattered. Parents piecing their children’s body parts together to bury them in one piece. A father running while holding what he could find of his kids’ body parts in black plastic bags. The massacre is graphic. It is dark.

The soldier pressing the button to send the airstrikes is looking at Palestinians from behind the lens of technologies previewing them as little dots. Reduced. Graphic. And can be finished at once. Intentionally at random.

This work is about the 4,104 children that were massacred in Gaza reported in November 7th, 2023—Day 30. The word Gaza in Arabic printed using an ink roller to mirror “mowing the lawn” strategy as Israelis steamroll the Palestinians and flatten Gaza to the ground. The word Gaza is surrounded by 4,104 body marks, gestures or remains of children. The body marks in the background speak to the portrayal of Palestinians in the media and in the eyes of the Israeli soldiers—insignificant, and merely statistics.
